Tybee Island/Savannah
Explorers recently journeyed to the Georgia coast for a high-intensity “Red-Eye” expedition to Savannah and Tybee Island, a major coordinate on their Roadmap to Success. This signature “Experience of Awesomeness” challenged students with a midnight departure and a full day of immersive activity without a hotel stay, requiring them to demonstrate professional stamina and the independence needed to navigate a new environment. From the sunrise on Tybee Island to the vibrant, historic streets of Savannah, students explored the intersection of history, art, and modern industry.
The Savannah Trip as a Career Catalyst:
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Tour: A highlight for many, allowing Explorers to engage with high-profile pathways in film, design, and visual arts. This visit opened a “window of opportunity” for students to see how personal passions translate into professional reality.
Exploration of Hospitality and Tourism: Explorers toured historic homes, participated in a Ghost Walking Tour, and experienced a Riverboat Dinner Cruise.
Independence and Time Management: Navigating a busy metropolitan area independently fostered personal responsibility and time management.
Social Networking: The most significant growth came from mastering the art of talking to new people, building a supportive community, and stepping outside local “county lines.”
