This immersive expedition took students to the twin cities of Bristol, TN/VA, to explore the cultural landmarks that define the region. By stepping behind the scenes of two historic venues—the Birthplace of Country Music Museum and the Paramount Theatre—Explorers gained a unique perspective on the intersection of history, art, and professional opportunity.

The trip was designed to move students beyond their local county lines and introduce them to high-profile career paths in tourism, art, and marketing. At the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, Explorers delved into the “Roots of American Music,” observing the complex operations required to maintain a world-class historical site. This provided insight into specialized roles such as museum curation, archival management, and exhibit design.

The journey continued at the historic Paramount Theatre, a stunning example of Art Deco architecture. Here, students explored the realities of theatre management and stage production. By touring this venue, they learned about the professional stamina required to preserve historic landmarks while managing modern entertainment events, broadening their understanding of careers in the performing arts and hospitality sectors.
